Prayer Watches of The Day 9 AM – 12 Noon

We thank you Lord to be able to come before your presence during these second prayer watches of the day 9 am – 12 noon. We long to be in your presence during the times of prayer watches as we meditate and pray forth your Word.

What Happens During This Prayer Watch:

The second prayer watch of the day or the third hour is between the hours of 9 am – 12 pm. It is during this watch that we are to fulfill our purpose here on earth. Most jobs in the marketplace either begin their shift at 9 am or earlier in the morning. When we go past 9 am in the morning without any production we are considered idle.

Jesus Crucifixion:

It was during this prayer watch at the third hour of 9 am that Jesus was crucified and fulfilled his divine purpose here on earth. Jesus purpose for coming here to earth was for the salvation of all mankind. It is during this time that we are to embrace the cross and pray for a crucified life with Christ. It is also the time to reap the harvest of the things prayed for at dawn.

It was the prayer that Jesus prayed before the breaking of dawn in the Garden of Gethsemane that would be fulfilled at the 9 am hour. The cross that Jesus had to bear and endure for our sakes was so overwhelming that “He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by.  “Abba, Father, he cried out,“ everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

Mark 15:25
It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him.

Matthew 20:3
At nine o’clock in the morning he was passing through the marketplace and saw some people standing around doing nothing.

Proverbs 19:15
Lazy people sleep soundly, but idleness leaves them hungry.

2 Thessalonians 3:11
Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business.

Acts 2:15
These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that.

What To Pray For During This Prayer Watch

For Purpose To Be Fulfilled:
It is during this time that we pray that our purpose for that day be fulfilled.  We do not want to waste time during the day doing nothing and having accomplished nothing. Unless God’s will and purpose for our lives are fulfilled, we will find ourselves spinning our wheels and going no where.

1 Kings 18:25-28
Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “You go first, for there are many of you. Choose one of the bulls, and prepare it and call on the name of your god. But do not set fire to the wood.”

So they prepared one of the bulls and placed it on the altar. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning until noontime, shouting, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no reply of any kind. Then they danced, hobbling around the altar they had made.

An Evening Prayer To God

About noontime Elijah began mocking them. “You’ll have to shout louder,” he scoffed, “for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself.Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened!”

So they shouted louder, and following their normal custom, they cut themselves with knives and swords until the blood gushed out. They raved all afternoon until the time of the evening sacrifice, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response.

Pray For A Crucified Life:
As a follower of Jesus, we are commanded to take up our cross and follow Him. As a believer, we will endure many hardships in this lifetime, and there are some people and things that we will have to let go of. In giving up our life and our will, we will fulfill the will of God for our lives and find it in Jesus Christ.

Because of the crucifixion, let us ask God to help us manifest all of the values of crucified life, by mortifying the deeds of our flesh. This is the time to to change our garments by putting off the old man, and put on the Lord Jesus Christ.  This is the time to nail witchcraft, bitterness, jealousy, anger, backbiting, gossip, slander, lying, deception, hypocrisy and in fact all the properties and personality traits of the devil and all the works of the flesh to the cross.

Matthew 10:38-39
If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.

Galatians 2:20
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Colossians 3:2-11
Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.  For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.  And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.  Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

Galatians 5:19-21
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

My New Life In Christ Prayer

Time for Harvest:
It is during this prayer watch that we are to expect a great harvest and the manifestations of God’s promises for our lives to show up.

Acts 2:15, 40-41
These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that.

Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”
Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.

Pray For The Benefits of The Cross:
This is the time to pray for forgiveness, healing, prosperity, strength and deliverance.  Jesus was crucified at the third hour.  After having been on the cross for three hours, darkness came upon the face of the earth at 12 noon, and at 3:00 pm, the period of darkness ended.  Even God worked according to the watches of the day especially pertaining to the crucifixion of Christ.

Colossians 2:13-15
You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

Pray for Forgiveness, Healing of Relationships and the Release of Others.
This is the best time to pray this portion of the prayer the Lord Jesus Christ taught His disciples. Pray for forgiveness, the healing of relationships and for the release of others from all types of bondage.

Matthew 6:9-15
So this is how you should pray:

‘Our Father in heaven,
we pray that your name will always be kept holy.
We pray that your kingdom will come—
that what you want will be done here on earth, the same as in heaven.
Give us the food we need for today.
Forgive our sins,
just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us.
Don’t let us be tempted,
but save us from the Evil One.’
Yes, if you forgive others for the wrongs they do to you, then your Father in heaven will also forgive your wrongs. But if you don’t forgive others, then your Father in heaven will not forgive the wrongs you do.
