Your History Is Not His Story

When you reminisce over your life
Exactly what do you see?

Can you honestly say
You’ve seen, done and become all you want to be?

Did you miss some marks?
Have you ever needed to press the restart
Well, you’re not alone
A lot of us could sing that same song

Because a few things went very wrong

Don’t worry, don’t fret our story is not over yet
That was just our history

That is neither our present nor what is to come
Let’s forgive ourselves for all we’ve done

Because God sent his son
This allowed us to be free
Because our history is not His story
Let’s take a look and see

He died
So we could live
He taught us how to pray
And told us to forgive

He told us to have faith in our prayers
And seal them in Jesus name

He delivered us from sin and shame
And He never placed blame

He never reminds us of our history in anyway

That’s the enemy in your head everyday

Reminding you of your past
Telling you lies

Hoping you will not discover the true you inside

Making your friends your foes
They are only being used you know
So please don’t take it personal
That’s what he wants
So he can stop your flow

Just remember your past is gone
Your present will soon be your history

It is only what God says about you that really matters
So just ignore the devil and other people
They have no power
All they speak is chitter chatter

Denounce those lies
While they are just in your mind
Don’t let them make it to your spirit
And you will be fine

Remember…
Everyone has a history
Which is true
But not everyone does what you do

You placed your history under His blood
And now you are covered with His LOVE
And no matter what it seems
You have been redeemed
And now you walk in victory
Because your history is not HIS STORY
