What is the occult? The Occult is the quest or the claim to have hidden knowledge and power. It is a practice or means of gaining illegal access to the spirit realm by way of the assistance of demonic spiritual entities. Dark and Confused Minds
Romans 1:20-32
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
Every Kind of Wickedness
Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful and they invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. And they know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
Evil Thoughts
Mark 7:20-23
And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”
Don’t Try To Learn The Future
When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, don’t learn to do the terrible things the people of the other nations there do. Don’t sacrifice your sons or daughters in the fires on your altars. And don’t try to learn what will happen in the future by talking to a fortuneteller or by going to a magician, a witch, or a sorcerer. Don’t let anyone try to put magic spells on other people. Don’t let any of your people become a medium or a wizard. And no one should try to talk with someone who has died. The Lord hates anyone who does these things. And because these other nations do these terrible things, the Lord your God will force them out of the land as you enter it. You must be faithful to the Lord your God, never doing anything he considers wrong.
Leviticus 19:31
“Do not go to mediums or wizards for advice—they will only make you unclean. I am the LORD your God.
A Far Worse Sin
Then Samuel said,
Do you think all God wants are sacrifices—
empty rituals just for show?
He wants you to listen to him!
Plain listening is the thing,
not staging a lavish religious production.
Not doing what God tells you is far worse than fooling around in the occult.
Getting self-important around God is far worse than making deals with your dead ancestors.
Because you said No to God’s command, he says No to your kingship.
Evil In The Sight of The Lord
Manasseh also sacrificed his own sons in the fire in the valley of Ben-Hinnom.
He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and he consulted with mediums and psychics.
He did much that was evil in the Lord’s sight, arousing his anger.
Simon The Sorcerer
A man named Simon had been a sorcerer there for many years, amazing the people of Samaria and claiming to be someone great. Everyone, from the least to the greatest, often spoke of him as “the Great One—the Power of God.” They listened closely to him because for a long time he had astounded them with his magic.
But now the people believed Philip’s message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized. Then Simon himself believed and was baptized. He began following Philip wherever he went, and he was amazed by the signs and great miracles Philip performed.
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that the people of Samaria had accepted God’s message, they sent Peter and John there. As soon as they arrived, they prayed for these new believers to receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them, for they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then Peter and John laid their hands upon these believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.
Trying To Buy God’s Power
When Simon saw that the Spirit was given when the apostles laid their hands on people, he offered them money to buy this power. “Let me have this power, too,” he exclaimed, “so that when I lay my hands on people, they will receive the Holy Spirit!”
But Peter replied, “May your money be destroyed with you for thinking God’s gift can be bought! You can have no part in this, for your heart is not right with God. Repent of your wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive your evil thoughts, for I can see that you are full of bitter jealousy and are held captive by sin.”
“Pray to the Lord for me,” Simon exclaimed, “that these terrible things you’ve said won’t happen to me!”
After testifying and preaching the word of the Lord in Samaria, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem. And they stopped in many Samaritan villages along the way to preach the Good News.
Prayer For Deliverance From The Occult
Father in The Name of Jesus,
I know that Your Son Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. Jesus I come to you now asking you to come into my heart and set me free from every satanic bondage and connection to the occult. I ask for freedom from the Spirit of Bondage. At this moment I renounce the occult, witchcraft practices, tarot cards, the ouija board and all the works of the occult. In your name Jesus, I cast them far from me. I bind the Spirit of bondage and loose liberty and the spirit of adoption in the name of Jesus. I ask you to fill me now with your Holy Spirit.
Free me Lord from the bondage to sin, the spirit of fear and captivity to Satan. I no longer want to be a servant of corruption but I want to be a righteous servant of the Lord. I denounce sin and corruption and I ask You Jesus to come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank You Lord for hearing my prayer and saving me from all my destructions. In Jesus mighty name I pray.
