Bedtime Prayers For Children & Babies
Bedtime prayers for children and babies is an important part of a child’s nighttime routine. It is important as mothers and fathers that we cover our children in prayer before they go to sleep. This will ensure God’s protection over their lives and a restful night’s sleep.
The Parent’s Responsibility
As parents, it is our responsibility to cover our children both naturally and spiritually. We do this by first thanking God for our children and the gift He has given us. The life of a child is such a precious gift and we should never take it for granted. If you are a natural parent or an adoptive parent, the love is all the same. If God has chosen you to be a parent to a child, then it is truly a blessing and honor.

As Christian parents, it is our responsibility to offer our children back to the Lord. We do this in dedication of their lives for His protection and His covering over them. It is unwise to think that we can raise our children apart from God’s protection over their lives. God promises to care for our children and keep them protected from hurt, harm and danger. We don’t have to wait until they turn 2 or when they are able to say the “Now I lay me down to sleep prayer”. When they are newborn babies and still in the womb, begin to instill the Word of God into their lives.
Prayer Protects Our Children & Babies
When we pray bedtime prayers for children, we cover our children and babies during the night season. We ask God to protect them and to send His angels to watch over them while they sleep. Protect them from all evil and wickedness that goes on at night. The night time from 12 am – 6 am is the time when Satan and his evil forces are the busiest. It is during the time that we sleep that Satan sneaks in and does his work. We are to pray against the spirit of death, SIDS, kidnappings, nightmares, restlessness, insomnia, ghost, night terrors, fears, phobias and all kinds of demonic attacks against our children.
I noticed that when I began praying the Word of God over my daughter before she went to sleep, her little spirit quieted down and she rest throughout the night well into the morning. She wakes up happy, rested and ready to start her day. A few weeks after I started these prayers for my daughter, I took her to the doctor. On her milestone sheet it said it is normal and expected for children her age to begin having nightmares. Well, as a daughter of the Most High God I do not accept that for my princess. She is royalty and the devil does not have permission to torment her at night. She will lay down and sleep soundly for the Lord will give her sweet sleep.
Children Are A Gift From God
You can pray the same thing over your children. Your children are a gift to you from God and they are royalty. They are prince and princess of the Most High God and covered under the blood of Jesus. At this young age our children are protected under our salvation covering until they reach the age of accountability. As believers, our children have that same promise from the Lord of protection, healing and deliverance. us will do the same for our children.
Bedtime Prayer
Heavenly Father,
In the name of Jesus, we thank you for (insert child’s name) life. Thank you for the joy, peace and love that you have given (her/him). We pray Lord that as (insert child’s name) goes to sleep you will watch over (him/her) and keep (him/her) in perfect peace. May the blood of Jesus cover, heal, protect and deliver from all hurt, harm and danger.
Father, send forth your angels and give them charge over (insert child’s name) to keep him/her in all his/her ways. We bind up every demonic spirit of the night that would try to bring death, nightmares, SIDS, restlessness, insomnia, night terrors, fears, ghost and all kinds and forms of demonic spirits. We loose life, the breath of God, peace, a sound mind, power, love and sweet sleep upon
(insert child’s name)
We thank you Lord that (insert child’s name) will sleep in peace throughout the night and that she/he will awaken in the morning rested, happy and full of the joy of the Lord. Thank you Lord for hearing and answering our prayer.
