One thing I think we can all agree on is that that life is much easier when we have money. We have a lot less stress, worry and anxiety when we know we have money in the bank. As a virtuous woman of God, we must understand that money is simply a tool that we need to live and further advancement of the Kingdom of God. Today I want to talk about the virtuous woman and her finances.

Who Is The Virtuous Woman

There are many things that we can learn from watching the virtuous woman. One of the things is about how she uses her finances. God has a plan for our finances and the virtuous woman gives us a godly example of how we are to use the resources that God has given us.

Within the familiar passage of Proverbs 31, we find that the virtuous woman is a well rounded woman. She is valued, has good work ethics, is an owner of land, a giver, planner, business woman, teacher, homemaker and a God fearing woman.

Proverbs 31:10-31

She Brings Value

Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.

She Is a Worker

She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
And brings her food from afar.
She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.

She Is a Land Owner

She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.

She Is a Giver

She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

She Is a Planner

She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.

She Is A Business Woman

She makes linen garments and sells them,
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
Strength and honor are her clothing;
And she shall rejoice in time to come.

She Is a Teacher

She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

She Is a Homemaker

She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.”

She Is a Woman of God

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.

Give Back To God

We commonly hear people misquote 1 Timothy 6:10 by saying that money is the root of all evil, but the Bible never said that. It says “The love of money is the root of all evil.” Anything that you love, you will chase after it, worship it and do anything for it. If we put money above God and everything else in life, then we will always have a problem when it comes to giving it back.

I have said and will continue to say that money is a resource tool the more you give, the more God will bless you with more. The Lord says bring all your tithe into the storehouse. Give Him tenth of your first and He will bless you abundantly with more and more. What else does the Word of God say about money and how are we to conduct our financial affairs in a way that is pleasing to God.

Scripture References:

1 Timothy 6:10
The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much that they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.

1 Timothy 6:17
Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life.

Ecclesiastes 10:19
People enjoy eating, and wine makes life happier. But money solves a lot of problems.

Malachi 3:10
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so that there will be food enough in my Temple; if you do, I will open up the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing so great you won’t have room enough to take it in! “Try it! Let me prove it to you!

Proverbs 3:9-10
Honor the Lord by giving him your money and the first part  of all your crops. Then you will have more grain and grapes than you will ever need.
2 Corinthians 9:7
Each of you must make up your own mind about how much to give. But don’t feel sorry that you must give and don’t feel that you are forced to give. God loves people who love to give.

Give To Others

One of the ways that God blesses us is when we share what we have with others. The virtuous woman is a giver and helper to those in need. It says she extends her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. The word of God tells us that being kind to the poor is like lending to the Lord and He will reward you for what you have done.

Scripture References:

Proverbs 21:26
The lazy man longs for many things, but his hands refuse to work. He is greedy to get, while the godly love to give!

Proverbs 22:9
Generous people will be blessed, because they share their food with the poor.

Proverbs 22:16
He who oppresses or exploits the poor to get more for himself Or who gives to the rich [to gain influence and favor], will only come to poverty.

Pay Your Debts

The scriptures tell us to pay our debts and to owe no man anything except love. When our debts are paid we walk in financial freedom and from being under the control and reign of the rich. The virtuous woman knows the importance of paying her bills and debts that she owe. She uses wisdom in how she spends her money and invest it in things that will bring her a profit and honor God.

Scripture References:

Romans 13:6-8
You must also pay your taxes. The authorities are God’s servants, and it is their duty to take care of these matters. Pay all that you owe, whether it is taxes and fees or respect and honor. Let love be your only debt! If you love others, you have done all that the Law demands.

Proverbs 22:7
The poor are ruled by the rich, and those who borrow are slaves of moneylenders.

God or Mammon

The word of God tells us in Matthew 6 that in this life we are going to serve one of two masters. There is no middle ground to serve both. We are either going to serve God and make Him our master or serve money and make it our master. It all comes right back around to the matters of your heart. If we truly love God and sit Him on the seat of our heart, then money will have no place there.

Scripture References:

Matthew 6:24
You cannot serve two masters: God and money. For you will hate one and love the other, or else the other way around .

Hebrews 13:5
Don’t fall in love with money. Be satisfied with what you have. The Lord has promised that he will not leave us or desert us.

Everything Belongs To God

Our entire existence depends on God and without Him, we have nothing. God is our provider and He is the one who gives us the power to get wealth. Let us always remember that it is God who makes us successful and not the strength of our own hands.

Scripture References:

Deuteronomy 8:18
Instead, remember that the Lord your God gives you the strength to make a living (power to get wealth). That’s how he keeps the promise he made to your ancestors.

1 Chronicles 29:11-12
Your power is great, and your glory is seen everywhere in heaven and on earth. You are king of the entire world, and you rule with strength and power. You make people rich and powerful and famous.

Proverbs 10:22
When the Lord blesses you with riches, you have nothing to regret.

Guard Your Heart In Financial Areas

When it comes to money, we have to make sure our heart stays in a pure place at all times. Since we know that money is a tool and resource we need here on earth, we must keep it in its proper prospective. We must maintain an upright heart before the Lord and guard our hearts against the love of money. God is our source and our provider and He knows what we have need of. As we seek God, His Kingdom and His righteousness, all the things that we need in life, including money will be given to us.

Scripture References:
Proverbs 15:16
It’s better to obey the Lord and have only a little, than to be very rich and terribly confused.

1 Timothy 6:9-10
People who want to be rich fall into all sorts of temptations and traps. They are caught by foolish and harmful desires that drag them down and destroy them. The love of money causes all kinds of trouble. Some people want money so much that they have given up their faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.

Matthew 6:19-21
Don’t store up treasures on earth! Moths and rust can destroy them, and thieves can break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. Your heart will always be where your treasure is.

“In the same way, my words leave my mouth, and they don’t come back without results. My words make the things happen that I want to happen. They succeed in doing what I send them to do.” ~ Isaiah 55:11
