With all the distractions in the world today, you may find it difficult sometimes to keep your mind on Christ. We so often hear people talk about maintaining their mental wellness, but how do we effectively do that? The Lord keep us in perfect peace when we keep our minds stayed on Him.

When we keep our minds on the Lord and not the things of this world, we learn to trust, rest and find our perfect peace in the Lord.

Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.

Power Up Your Brain

It is important that we keep a healthy mind both naturally as well as spiritually. During the pandemic, while people were isolated and locked away from one another, the online gaming industry was booming. People engaged in online card games like solitaire, chess and crossword puzzles. One of my personal favorites is finding the hidden objects games. I play this game along with my pre-teen daughter to help sharpen our discernment, focus and eye skills. These games help to stimulate and sharpen the natural mind while improving both your logic and memory skills and that’s important to help power up your brain.

In the midst of the pandemic, so many in our elderly community struggled with the transition of it all. In the midst of everything, I witnessed an increase of friends with parents 65 and older experience early signs of dementia. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s remains the fifth-leading cause of death among Americans age 65 and older. One of the best ways to power up your brain is by sharpening your mind with cognitive-stimulating activities like memory-related games, both for overall brain health and for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Having The Mind of Christ

The best way to keep your mind on Christ is to read His word daily. Start your day off with the word of God instead of the news. Whatever we feed our minds will be our outlook on life. Having the mind of Christ means that we think like Him, we operate like Him and are perfected in His love. The perfected love of Jesus Christ cast out all fear. Life is short, take time to enjoy it and all that God has created for us.

And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].

Don’t Allow FEAR To Rule Your Mind

If one thing the pandemic, lock downs and Coronavirus taught us was that we have to enjoy and appreciate life, family, friends and fellowship. If you enjoy nature and outdoor activities like gardening or camping then take time to do those things. Get out and enjoy your favorite sporting events and games with friends and family. Don’t allow fear, despair and depression to rob you of the abundant life that Christ promised you. Get out of your 4 walls and share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with the world.

The Doors Are Open Before Me

Many of us, especially in America have found a way to get back out into society while staying safe and operating in God’s wisdom. I wanted to encourage you this evening that as you keep your mind and thoughts on the Lord, He will give you a peace that surpasses all understanding even in the midst of trials and tribulations. In all that you do, keep Christ first and foremost in your life and know that as His sons and daughters, you are protected and covered under the shadow of His wings.
