What Are The Names of The Devil?
Many people ask the question what are the names of the devil. Well, in warfare it is always important for you to know your enemy. It would be very dangerous to be in the military services and not know who your enemy is, where the enemy’s territory is located or the character of your enemy. Any good soldier before they go off to war has studied their enemy and their character. The same is true for spiritual warfare. In order for us to know Satan, our enemy we must know where he came from, his character and his strategy.
God is the creator of everything and everything that God creates is good and beautiful. Before Satan fell his name was Lucifer. From the beginning, God created Lucifer as a beautiful covering angel. The Bible says God ordained and anointed him as the mighty angelic guardian. He was the model of perfection, full of wisdom and exquisite in beauty and his clothing was adorned with every precious stone there was. He was in Eden, the garden of God. And had access to the holy mountain of God and he walked among the stones of fire. Lucifer was blameless in all he did from the day he was created until the day evil was found in him.

And the Dragon lost the battle and was forced from heaven. This great Dragon—the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world—was thrown down onto the earth with all his army.
Satan’s Strategic Agenda
Satan’s number one strategic agenda is to make you think he doesn’t exist. When evil and iniquity were found in Lucifer’s heart, God kicked him out of heaven. When Satan fell from heaven the Bible says with his tail he pulled one-third part of the stars out of heaven and he threw them down to earth. Satan and his demonic army seek to work in the hearts and minds of humans to do their work here on earth. Satan hates God and he hates all human beings because we are created in His image. Genesis 1:27 says God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female. Satan’s mission is to kill, steal and destroy the very image of God.
Revelation 12:4
His tail swept [across the sky] and dragged down a third of the stars and flung them to the earth. And the dragon stationed himself in front of the woman who was about to be delivered, so that he might devour her child as soon as she brought it forth.
Any thought that we may have of Satan being our trustworthy friend is a lie. Anything that he promises to give us here on earth comes with a deathly price to pay. That price is the death of your soul. The Bible says what do you benefit if you gain the world but lose your own soul? Is there anything worth more than your soul? Satan tried this same trick with Jesus.
Satan Is A Tempter
The word tells us Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. The devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. The devil told Jesus, all these things I will give you if you will fall down and worship me. Jesus told the devil go away Satan, for it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.
Who Is Our Enemy?
Satan is not our friend. He hates us with a passion. When he looks at us he sees God. When he looks at our future he sees promise and when he looks at his future he sees doom and destruction. The devil will do anything he can to bring us into destruction and the pits of hell with him. Hell was never designed for humans. Hell was only designed for Satan and his demons. Anything that the devil can ever tell us or promise us is a lie because he is the father of lies. His strategy is to destroy our lives, steal our inheritance and kill our destiny. Jeremiah 29:11 says for I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
The Names of The Devil
Many of the names of Satan show us his character and the form he can take on to represent and work through humans here on earth. We must remember that to win the battle against our enemy, we must first know who we are fighting against. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
