The Godly Phenomenal Woman
We have all read the Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou. Well as much as I love that poem as I read it, I knew that we as women could relate to all that was wrote. However, I thought about the Godly Phenomenal Woman and what she would say and here is what the Lord gave me….
Godly women know I have no secrets to hide
And I am very beautiful
Even if I am not built like a fashion model in your eyes
But when I start to proclaim
People think I am playing games
I say,
It’s in the raising of my arms
The swing in my hips
The praise in my step
The worship on my lips
I’m a Godly Woman Phenomenally
Phenomenal Godly Woman
Indeed, That’s ME
As I walk around this world
Just as humble as can be
With God I stand and
With God I can be found on my knees
The praises swarm out of me
As many as the waves in any sea
I say,
It’s the LOVE in my eyes
And the chatter of my teeth
The bend in my waist
The spirit in my feet
I’m a Godly Woman Phenomenally
Phenomenal Godly Woman
Indeed, that’s ME
People often wonder
What is that they see in me?
They often wonder too long
Making them get it wrong
When it’s my inner peace they see or seek
When I try to share it with them
They say they still can’t believe
It’s the strength of my back
The beauty of my smile
The pride in my breasts
Knowing I’m God’s chosen child
I’m a Godly Woman Phenomenally
Phenomenal Godly Woman
Indeed, that’s ME
Now I pray you understand
Why to God my head is bowed
And why I always shout and jump about
And praise his name real loud
When you see me praising HIS name
You should be so proud
It’s in the VICTORY of my life
The favor I give as a wife
The woman in me to give birth
The power to cancel any curse

Wow, I recited the original poem Phenomenal Woman in 8th grade and I loved what it meant to me then. Now reading this version, I am so happy to say that it touches me even more. I am sure that it is because of the strong message and content, and that it was written by a strong godly phenomenal woman or maybe because I can see this woman in myself. This version is well written, and received; thank you for your continued obedience as you have committed to teaching others and uplifting us through your ministry.
