The Belt of Truth Armor of God Series
Today we start the belt of truth armor of God series. It is an updated teaching from the Armor of God Series that we did years ago on Royal Girlz Ministry and I am excited to bring it back. The Bible lets us know in the Book of Ephesians chapter 6 that we are in a spiritual war. No, our war is not with other people of flesh and blood, but it is against the unseen entities of Satan and his army. It gives us instructions on how we are to wage warfare against Satan and his demonic army.
Be Strong & Courageous
We are first encouraged to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. In order for us to be victorious against the enemy, we must go into the battle with the assurance that Jesus has already given us the victory! We cannot go into battle weak and paralyzed by fear, but we are instructed to put on the full armor of God, so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes and devices.
As we are instructed to put on the whole armor of God, the first piece of armor that we are to put on is the belt of truth. We will find this in the Book of Ephesians.
Ephesians 6:13-15
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
When we speak of the word gird or girdle, we are speaking of something that holds tight and makes us secure and firm. In the natural sense, we wear a belt to hold our pants up and make our clothes tight and secure around our waist so they don’t fall off, causing us to stumble and fall. It is the same in the spirit. When we dress for success, we must first put on truth and tighten it around our waist.
Walk In Truth
In the spirit, our only defense from stumbling is the word of truth. When we walk in the truth we will not be deceived by Satan’s lies. The purpose of engaging in spiritual warfare is to be free from bondage and to come against strongholds. To  bind the things of the enemy in the spirit realm and to loose the things of God in the spirit realm that they may manifest to us here in the earth realm.
The first step in becoming free is to know the truth, and the truth you know will make you free. John 8:32 says you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
What Is Truth?
John 17:13-19
Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy.  I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do.  Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.  Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.  And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.
Why Does The Belt of Truth Come First
The belt of truth comes first because Jesus is our truth. Without Christ, there is no foundation for us to stand on. Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.”
When we enter into battle with the enemy we must first be rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ and be firm in the truth of God’s word. Our waist must be gird tight with truth that will carry us into battle and bring us through with total victory. Jesus is our victory and defense. Whenever you engage the enemy in warfare you must know what the word of God says about your situation.
During spiritual warfare Satan will tell you all kinds of lies to get you to stop advancing against his army. We must never retreat and never turn stop advancing until the enemy is totally destroyed. If we are not sure about what the word says and the promises of God concerning our lives, the enemy will win so we must have the truth girding and holding us up.
The Father Of Lies
Satan can be very persuasive into making you believe a lie because he is the father of lies. Jesus was speaking to some men who were trying to trip Him up and cause Him to fall, but knowing their spirit was not of God He said this to them…
Jesus said to them, “If God were really your Father, you would love me. I came from God, and now I am here. I did not come by my own authority. God sent me. You don’t understand the things I say, because you cannot accept my teaching. Your father is the devil. You belong to him. You want to do what he wants. He was a murderer from the beginning. He was always against the truth. There is no truth in him. He is like the lies he tells. Yes, the devil is a liar. He is the father of lies.
“I am telling you the truth, and that’s why you don’t believe me.
Accepting Truth
God’s Holy Spirit will not only reveal truth to us about the enemy, but more importantly He will reveal truth to us concerning ourselves. The truth about our own souls is far more critical for us to know than truth about the enemy. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. He comes to help us along our journey and to make sure that we live an abundant life in Christ.
He comes with truth, not to make us feel bad about ourselves, but because He loves us so dearly. I don’t know of any good parent who would know the truth about something and purposely withhold it from their child so they can see them fall into trouble.
The Holy Spirit is our helper and He was sent to us to bear witness of the truth of Jesus Christ. Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit to us from Father God in heaven. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth and comes from the Father. God cares too much about us as His dear children to let us walk in error without correction.
It is up to us when the spirit of truth comes to us that we will heed to His word, confess and turn from whatever is not like Him and does not please our Father. When we do this with a sincere heart the enemy will not be able to use your weaknesses against us during battle. We can be firm that in our confession, God has forgiven us and we can then stand firm in the truth of God’s word and we won’t have to worry about falling.
