I have a question for you today. Have you ever dug a well for success only to have it blocked? You go back, try again and dig another well only to have the same thing happen again. I don’t know about you but this has surely happened to me and it can be very frustrating. In the month of January, we are putting a spotlight on the topic of our finances and work from home businesses.
I think it’s safe to say that money is an earthly resource that all of us need in order to survive. The Bible tells us that money answers everything. It’s important for us as believers to know how to use it as an earthly resource to both live and advance the Kingdom of God.
Ecclesiastes 10:19
A feast is made for laughter, And wine makes merry; But money answers everything.

The Enemy of Oppression
As I was in prayer on the other day, I was reminded of the passage in Genesis where Isaac went out to dig a well and he was met by the enemy. The first enemy was called oppression. Whenever we try to advance in any area of our lives, the enemy will bring the spirit of oppression. Oppression presses upon a person to get them to back off and quit. It deceives a person into thinking that there is danger in pressing forward. When the enemy presses on God’s people, God said He will arise and bring us into the safe place that we desire. We just have to trust in Him.
The Enemy of Opposition
Once we get past the spirit of oppression the next enemy to confront us is the spirit of opposition. Opposition comes to fight and block you. It comes to accuse you and tell you that you aren’t qualified. It’s desire is to wear you out and unfortunately this is the place where many give up…right before their breakthrough!
The enemy wants you to give up, but I speak strength to you today to continue to press forward like Issac and to dig another well. God made room for him and he was able to grow and be successful in that land. God wants to do the same thing for you, but we must keep digging. As we continue to dig, God will bless the works of our hands and bring us into a wealthy place.
Scripture Reference:
Isaac planted fields in that place, and that year he gathered a great harvest. The Lord blessed him very much. Isaac became rich. He gathered more and more wealth until he became a very rich man. He had many flocks, herds of animals and many slaves. All the Philistines were jealous of him. So they destroyed all the wells that Isaac’s father Abraham and his servants had dug many years before. They filled them with sand. Abimelech said to Isaac, “Leave our country. You have become much more powerful than we are.”
So Isaac left that place and camped near the little river of Gerar. He stayed there and lived. Long before this time, Abraham had dug many wells. After he died, the Philistines filled the wells with sand. So Isaac went back and dug those wells again. He gave them the same names his father had given them. Isaac’s servants also dug a well near the little river and found fresh water. But the men who herded sheep in the Valley of Gerar argued with Isaac’s servants. They said, “This water is ours.” So Isaac named that well Esek. He gave it that name because it was the place where they had argued with him.
Then Isaac’s servants dug another well. But there was an argument over this well too. So Isaac named that well Sitnah.
Isaac moved from there and dug another well. No one came to argue about this well. So Isaac named it Rehoboth. He said, “Now the Lord has found a place for us. We will grow and be successful in this place.”
