Understanding The Prayer Watches And Their Meaning:

The third prayer watches of the night 12AM – 3AM  is one of the most important watches. During this watch, spiritual warfare takes place and satanic activities are heightened. It is during this watch that Satan operates the most because this is the time that sound sleep falls upon man and there are less prayer warriors up to cover this watch.

This is the watch to pray against all sexual immorality such as fornication, adultery, prostitution, orgies, occult sexual activities, homosexuality, sexual abuse and rape. This is the time to awake out of sleep and confront every storm that has been coming against your life that you may have rest and peace in God.

It is in this watch that the destroying angel goes through communities, cities, nations and the world to bring death. It is time for dreams and visions and it is also time for miracles to be performed as well as covenants to be remembered.

Divine Protection

During this watch we pray for God’s divine protection from our enemies. God sends His divine protection to cover us from evening, throughout the night and into the morning. We shall not be afraid of our enemies because God has us covered under the shadow of His Wings.

Psalm 91:5
You will not be afraid of trouble at night, or of the arrow that flies by day.

Isaiah 17:14
At night In the time of evening the people will be very frightened [look/behold, terror!]. Before morning, no one will be left [the enemy will be gone; he is no more]. This is the fate [portion] of those who steal from [plunder] us, and what happens to [the lot of] those who rob [loot] us.

Deliverance From Our Enemies

During the third prayer watches of the night 12AM – 3AM the Lord is faithful to deliver us from our enemies. He delivers our enemies into our hands and gives us the victory over them.

Judges 7:9
During the night the Lord spoke to Gideon and said, “Get up. I will let you defeat the Midianite army. Go down to their camp.

Judges 7:19
It was just after midnight and the change of guards when Gideon and the hundred men with him crept to the outer edge of the camp of Midian. Suddenly they blew their trumpets and broke their clay jars so that their torches blazed into the night. Then the other two hundred of his men did the same, blowing the trumpets in their right hands, and holding the flaming torches in their left hands, all shouting, “For the Lord and for Gideon!”

Release From Demonic Prisons and Strongholds

It is at the midnight hour that the captives are set free. This is the hour in which we are to pray and sing praises to God. Sing songs of deliverance because the Lord of Host is our defense! As we pray and sing the prisoners will hear us in the spirit and the chains will be broken and fall off.

Acts 16:25-34

Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off!

The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don’t kill yourself! We are all here!” The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” And they shared the word of the Lord with him and with all who lived in his household.

Even at that hour of the night, the jailer cared for them and washed their wounds. Then he and everyone in his household were immediately baptized. He brought them into his house and set a meal before them, and he and his entire household rejoiced because they all believed in God.

Dreams and Visions Activated

During this prayer watch, our dreams and visions are activated. As we rest in the Lord and worship in His presence, He speaks to us in dreams and open visions. Holy Spirit opens our spiritual eyes to see and discern in the spirit realm. He brings us into visions and  and reveals divine revelation wisdom and knowledge to us. It is only by the Holy Spirit that we are to enter in

Genesis 46:1-3
God said to Israel in a vision at night, “Jacob! Jacob!” and he said, “I’m here.”

Job 4:13
A word came to me in secret— a mere whisper of a word, but I heard it clearly. It came in a scary dream one night, after I had fallen into a deep, deep sleep. Dread stared me in the face, and Terror. I was scared to death—I shook from head to foot. A spirit glided right in front of me— the hair on my head stood on end. I couldn’t tell what it was that appeared there— a blur . . . and then I heard a muffled voice

Ezekiel 8:2-4
Then I saw something that looked like an arm. The arm reached out and grabbed me by the hair on my head. Then the Spirit lifted me into the air, and in a vision from God he took me to Jerusalem. He took me to the inner gate—the gate that is on the north side. The statue that makes God jealous is by that gate.

The Stairway To Heaven

This watch opens up dreams and visions. Pray that the Lord will speak to the hearts of men in their dreams and reveal Himself to them in visions of the night. The stairway to heaven has angels ascending with our prayers and descending with our answers during the night watches.

Genesis 28:10-19

Meanwhile, Jacob left Beersheba and traveled toward Haran. At sundown he arrived at a good place to set up camp and stopped there for the night. Jacob found a stone to rest his head against and lay down to sleep. As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.

At the top of the stairway stood the Lord, and he said, “I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants.

Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions—to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.

What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.” Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!”

But he was also afraid and said, “What an awesome place this is! It is none other than the house of God, the very gateway to heaven!”
The next morning Jacob got up very early. He took the stone he had rested his head against, and he set it upright as a memorial pillar. Then he poured olive oil over it. He named that place Bethel (which means “house of God”), although it was previously called Luz.

Angelic Intervention

During the third prayer watches of the night 12AM – 3AM there is tremendous spiritual warfare and angelic activity taking place. The Angel of the Lord stands in our defense and fights for us during the prayer watches of the night 12AM – 3AM. It is during this watch that the angels of the Lord assist in deliverance for God’s people.

2 Kings 19:32-35
And my command concerning the king of Assyria is that he shall not enter this city. He shall not stand before it with a shield, nor build a ramp against its wall, nor even shoot an arrow into it. He shall return by the road he came, for I will defend and save this city for the sake of my own name and for the sake of my servant David.’”

That very night the Angel of the Lord killed 185,000 Assyrian troops, and dead bodies were seen all across the landscape in the morning.

Pray For Marriages

This is the hour for us to pray for marriages. We should pray for purity in marriages and that husbands and wives come together as one flesh. Pray that there be no division between the two and that Satan will have no  access into the marriages. We should pray for intimacy, love and purity in marriages. Let us also pray for God’s original plan for marriage to be restored to the hearts and minds of the people.

Ruth 3:7-11
So she went down to the threshing floor that night and followed her mother-in-law’s instructions. After Boaz had finished a good meal, he lay down very contentedly beside a heap of grain and went to sleep.

Then Ruth came quietly and lifted the covering off his feet and lay there. Suddenly, around midnight, he wakened and sat up, startled. There was a woman lying at his feet!

“Who are you?” he demanded. “It’s I, sir—Ruth,” she replied. “Make me your wife according to God’s law, for you are my close relative.”

“Thank God for a girl like you!” he exclaimed. “For you are being even kinder to Naomi now than before. Naturally you’d prefer a younger man, even though poor. But you have put aside your personal desires. Now don’t worry about a thing, my child; I’ll handle all the details, for everyone knows what a wonderful person you are.

It is during the midnight hour that the cry goes out that the bridegroom is coming for his bride. This signifies the prophetic call that goes forth to tell tell the church to get ready Christ is coming back for His bride. Like the 5 wise virgins we should heed the call and begin to prepare ourselves to go into the wedding feast with Christ.

Matthew 25:1-6
At that time God’s kingdom will be like ten girls who went to wait for the bridegroom. They took their lamps with them. Five of the girls were foolish, and five were wise. The foolish girls took their lamps with them, but they did not take extra oil for the lamps. The wise girls took their lamps and more oil in jars. When the bridegroom was very late, the girls could not keep their eyes open, and they all fell asleep. “At midnight someone announced, ‘The bridegroom is coming! Come and meet him!’

Keep Oil In Your Lamps

In this watch it is vital to make sure you keep oil in your lamp. The five wise virgins had enough oil in their lamps. In the midnight hour or the last days  we must be full of Holy Spirit. We must carry enough oil in our lamps where the light of Christ continuously burns within us and it never goes out.  We must pray that we are prepared and have enough Holy Spirit within us to endure to the end.

Matthew 25:7-13
Then all the girls woke up. They made their lamps ready. But the foolish girls said to the wise girls, ‘Give us some of your oil. The oil in our lamps is all gone.’ The wise girls answered, No! The oil we have might not be enough for all of us. But go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.

So the foolish girls went to buy oil. While they were gone, the bridegroom came. The girls who were ready went in with the bridegroom to the wedding feast. Then the door was closed and locked.

Later, the other girls came. They said, ‘Sir, sir! Open the door to let us in.’ But the bridegroom answered, ‘Certainly not! I don’t even know you.’ So always be ready. You don’t know the day or the time when the Son of Man will come.

Exodus 27:20
You shall command the Israelites to provide you with clear oil of beaten olives for the light, to make a lamp burn continually every night

Peace and Calm

During this prayer watch pray for peace and calmness. Because there is tremendous warfare during this watch, the enemy will use the spirit of fear to hinder you from moving forth in prayer. The Prince of Peace is with you and He will bring a calm to any storm the enemy tries to create.

Matthew 8:23-27
Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples. Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown! Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!”

Time To Watch & Pray

Mark 13:35
You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return—in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak.

Provisions Met

Luke 11:5-9
Then, teaching them more about prayer, he used this story: “Suppose you went to a friend’s house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread.

You say to him, ‘A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, and I have nothing for him to eat.’ And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can’t help you.’

But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.

“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Protection

Exodus 12:12-13
For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord.

Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

At midnight the Lord killed all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh who sat on the throne to the first-born of the one who was held in prison, and all the first-born of the cattle. Pharaoh got up in the night, he and his servants and all the Egyptians. And there was a loud cry in Egypt. For there was no home where there was not someone dead.

Pray Against Sexual Sins of All Types

Judges 19:22-26

While they were enjoying themselves, a crowd of troublemakers from the town surrounded the house. They began beating at the door and shouting to the old man,
Bring out the man who is staying with you so we can have sex with him.
The old man stepped outside to talk to them. “No, my brothers, don’t do such an evil thing. For this man is a guest in my house, and such a thing would be shameful. Here, take my virgin daughter and this man’s concubine. I will bring them out to you, and you can abuse them and do whatever you like. But don’t do such a shameful thing to this man.”
But they wouldn’t listen to him. So the Levite took hold of his concubine and pushed her out the door. The men of the town abused her all night, taking turns raping her until morning.
Finally, at dawn they let her go. At daybreak the woman returned to the house where her husband was staying. She collapsed at the door of the house and lay there until it was light.

Be Ready To Move Out

Luke 12:35-40
Be ready and dressed. Have your lights burning. Be like men who are waiting for their owner to come home from a wedding supper. When he comes and knocks on the door, they will open it for him at once. Those servants are happy when their owner finds them watching when he comes.For sure, I tell you, he will be dressed and ready to care for them. He will have them seated at the table. The owner might come late at night or early in the morning. Those servants are happy if their owner finds them watching whenever he comes. But understand this, that if the owner of a house had known when the robber was coming, he would have been watching. He would not have allowed his house to be broken into. You must be ready also. The Son of Man is coming at a time when you do not think He will come.”

Prayer For 12AM – 3AM
